Clear dark straw color with good activity. Foamy white 2-3 finger head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, with decent legs. Flavors of sweet barley, corn, light caramel, lemon, and floral hops. Slick medium body with prickly carbonation. Medium strength finish, sharp lemony and flowery hops, powerful cereal feel. A bit dry and syrupy with tongue coating adjuncts, though the attenuation and ingredients are decent. In the middle between a Pils and double Pils is the general sensation. Freshness is alright but could be better. Overall average quality craft.

355ml bottle - part of the current Mill Street Canadian Brewpub pack. Made at the Toronto location, and attributed to something called the 'Toronto Beer Hall'.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves some pretty fancy dissipating cloud form lace around the glass as it slowly blows off.

It smells of grainy and bready cereal malt, honeyed crackers, a touch of earthy yeastiness, and some plain leafy, musty, and dried hay-like hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, apples dipped in honey, some mildly phenolic yeast, and more understated herbal, grassy, and floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is average in its palate-pleasing frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, with just a touch of wayward (IMHO) yeasty character taking things down a notch or two here. It finishes off-dry, the frooty malt essences keeping up lingering appearances.

Overall - this comes across as yer typical version of the style, a sort of lager/light ale hybrid, one meant for simple session imbibing. Not as off-putting as you-know-who, as I've mentioned many time before, so Mill Street should take some solace in that, but, yeah, this is a one and done for me.

355 mL bottle from the LCBO; one of six in this year's Brewpub sampler pack. Dated May 8 2018 and served well chilled.

Pours clear-golden yellow, with one finger of frothy white foam that is soon reduced to a creamy-looking collar and patchy cap. Decent lacing; looks fine to me. The aroma is low-key and clean, comprised mostly of crackery pale malts, grain husks, grassy hay and some floral, slightly earthy hop notes. There's also a very light hint of honey sweetness, and a touch of yeastiness. I rather like it, actually.

A bit plain, but not objectionable in the least. It tastes primarily of doughy bread and crackery, grainy pale malts, accented with just a touch of caramelized sweetness. Finishes with a few grassy, floral notes and some light hop spiciness, leading into a mild aftertaste with some grainy sweetness that is quick to fade. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that gently (and continuously) prickle the palate. The mouthfeel is a little slick, and not as crisp as I'd prefer for this sort of thing - but at least it's easy to toss back.

Final Grade: 3.54, a B grade. July Talk Conversation is not exactly the most exciting beer in this mixed pack, but it might very well be the most approachable - particularly for fans of Mill Street's mainstream fare (e.g. their Organic Lager or 100th Meridian, with which it has a few similarities). While I didn't mind this brew, I'm not sure it's the best stylistic example of a common - and given the wide availability of Anchor Steam in these parts, I don't think it's something I'd reach for on a regular basis if it were to be sold individually. Worth the tick, but that's about it.

Clear gold with a good head. Bready malt nose with a little sweet fruitiness. Light refreshing body with a nice dry finish. Good for the summer.

Pours a barely hazy golden body with only a touch of pearly white head. Sweet cereal malts on the nose, the typical brewery aroma, with a very light and crisp flavour invoking some very slight lagered malt flavour along with a touch of bitterness from hops serving to balance things out. This is actually quite a nice crisp summer beer, I would enjoy these from time to time for something on a hot day.
