Appearance: Pours a golden bronze colour that shows respectable carbonation. A thumb of head and decent retention are positives, but the lack of lace is not.

Smell: Normally, something that smells this hoppy to me would set off some whistles as pine and citrus hops dominate the nose. However there is a solid backdrop of sweet caramel malt in the background which I think is going to serve to limit the bitterness.

Taste: It starts off fairly plain, a touch of malted barely with some light citrus hops. The hops then come forward, but are reigned in by the malt that remains consistent throughout the beer and ends on that note as well. I'm going to go with the cliche and say it's curious, as usually find that malt doesn't pan out that well in most beers.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is mild and helps out the entire beer, but it seems to know better then to make an aggressive presence. Transitioning is a little bumpy, but the light hop and malt aftertaste that doesn't cling is a bonus.

Drinkability: Yeah, I'd say it's solid as it's light bodied and the lack of hop oil cling makes it a more appealing and interesting drinker. It settles down nicely but I could see losing interest after six or so.

Final Thoughts: The hops seems like the odd man out on this one, which sort of makes you question why they are there in scent but not in taste. Also curious is the malt managing to last as long as it does. All in all a solid summer drinker, and the kind of beer you could use to ween people off of adjunct lager. Thumbs Up

A rather curious beer. It has all the elements of an IPA, but without the bitterness. Pours a light amber with about a thumbs worth of thick head. Smells like an IPA. Big piney aromas, citrus, grassy nose. Some toffee and caramel as well. Tastes like a weaker version of how it smells. And no aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium light and low carbonation. Very drinkable. I could quaff about ten of these.

On tap at the brew pub, July 9, 2013.

Gold colour, clear. White head is quite dense, but not thick, just a rim around the edge. Bit meh, listless.

Quite fruity on the nose. Hop character, but light and thin. Candied orange and pineapple. Quite sweet, a little bit weak. Could use a bigger smell for the type of beer it's professing to be.

Taste is tangy; bit of orange and loads of tangerine. Develops bitterness towards the back which is good, as it was sold as 'without the bitter aftertaste', a claim I'm always sceptical of. Not a lot, more a pale ale palate but quite pleasant and I enjoy it well enough.

A bit foamy, a little sharp on the back from carbonation. Not otherwise bad.

Decent effort at an approachable IPA. I'd market it as a Summer pale instead though, but nice.

Moderate cap on this beer, some lace. Clear gold in colour.

Decent nose of hops over a malt backbone. Grassy, firm, appetizing. Tastes of piney hops, bread, malt, caramel. Orange peel. A solid mouthful, sweet caramel upfront followed by lingering dry bitterness. A tad metallic which was a little off putting. Otherwise a decent enough beer.
