Pleasant. 1st O-Fest of the season. And resembled the season's hard Tre fruits (apple, pear, peach.)
Had at 7 Generations Ahead Micro-brew Review in Oak Park. Hence, no review (too many beers in too little time.)
8/22/22 Amazingly, had this again four years later at Oak Park's Micro-review and again found it a pleasant O-Fest, first of the season (although others followed immediately.) In another four years (maybe next year), I'd like this sweet malt to be followed by a long semi-dry finish like the Bavarian masters do, almost a bittersweet. I'm sure Lunar has it in them.
I need to give Lunar my obligatory micro-review. Three things I can say. First, they are 17 years old and don't seem to have a website. (They have a Facebook page, but I don't do Facebook.) So that part of the review is short. Second, they attempted Belgians earlier in their history, but seem to have abandoned that. (This may be better as it is a good business decision to stick to one's knitting.) Third, another coincidence... Lunar's shop is less than two blocks from where my father's business was until 1968. So for reviving that strip of St. Charles in Villa Park, I give them decent Overall Hugs.

Taste: Crisp, robust, bready grain, malt, some hop character. Earthy malty nose. Copper/ruby color hue, mostly clear, medium head some lace. Medium to Med/full body. Close to the Munich Oktoberfest ales.

A- Poured in a 1 liter beer stein at Lunar. Great amount of head three fingers that stays with the beer. Copper in color, clear, with a slight amber hue.
S- Malt, little hop character, and lager yeast. Totally can smell the Munich and Vienna malts in this one. Perfect for a Bavarian style Oktoberfest.
T- Biscut, malt, and bitter finish I'd guess Saaz or Hallertauer in their hop selection. It'd make sense to use those two for this brew.
M- Thick, crisp, and smooth.
0- This one is for a German/Czech Lager fan. Not bitter at all so I doubt a hop head or IPA only drinker would enjoy this beer. Lunar rocks!

Pours a garnet red with deep amber highlights. Great tan head that lasts about halfway through my 16 oz mug. The aroma is heavy with toasted malt, bread, rolls, and alittle roasted grain as well. Then some German hops to add a little earthy zing. The taste is a stupendous malt palate of rich malt grain sweetness. Toasted and a little roasted to perfection. Giving off tons of bready, even pretzely goodness. The palate is super smooth, a little dry, and crisp thanks to the modereate hopping of this awesome octoberfest.

A pretty good Oktoberfest. It looks orange - copper in color with a creamy white foam stand, and moderately carbonated. Aromas are of medium malt, bready, toasty, peaches, mangos, and appricots. Flavors are a bit sweet and and fruity. This over takes the toast and malt character a bit. Medium mouthfeel with a smooth texture. Lightens toward the end. Finishes slight of clean and a bit sweet with a mild alcohol note in the aftertaste.
