Bought and consumed in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. A lovely aroma of yeast and bread. Light toast and even some brown sugar. Taste is nee and malty, slightly sweet. Plenty of bread with light fruit and honey. This is a great find in Costa Rica, and a fantastic example of a traditional lager in an unexpected setting. I'd love to see more of this in hot weather places rather than the adjunct seizer-beer all over the place. Recommended.

i have seen beer from these guys in florida before, so i sort of expected their stuff to be all over costa rica when we were there, but thats just not the case, still very limited availability, at least in the parts of the country we traveled in. this is their amber, a lager i believe, and on tap at a beach bar in tamarindo that carried several from these guys. its not quite all the way clear and pale orange in the glass, not much head after the initial pour, but plenty of carbonation when i drink it. pretty malty, even for the style, with a sweet and nutty fresh european grain character, a little bready, with notes of honey and toasted barley, maybe loosely german, but it finishes a little drier with the lager yeast coming in to clean it up. quite a bit fuller bodied than expected, it doesnt feel like a beach beer to me, but they seem to be pushing that vibe, even raffling off a surfboard, i got a ticket with each draft i had! not that its heavy, its just malty and a little sweet, and i dont usually associate that with beach drinking, but it is obvious that these beers are very well made and more professional than a lot of what else is available in costa rica. i like both the weiss and the onix dark a lot better than this one, but its nice to find such well made beer in such an unlikely place...

Clean, Modest, True, Tasty
We have a bit of Germany in Costa Rica here. The brewery boasts of their brewmaster and his 30 years of experience and they should. Ambar is very much to style with a big, toasty malt character, a kiss of sweetness that is not cloying at all and a mild balancing hoppiness. Safe perhaps, but this is what styles like Märzen are all about. There’s not a whole lot of wiggle room and Ambar sits right where it should be. [Jason]

Creamy and slightly heavy beer, very nice feel and sweeter malt flavor for an amber. Excellent beer reminiscent of a rich German Oktoberfest brew.

I picked up this 350mL single bottle at the Auto Mercado supermarket in Tamarindo, Costa Rica for 2045 CR colones (~ US $3.86). Code stamped on the label: "No. Del Lote: 1000101, Mejor Antes: 23.06.16". I have to say, Marzen is not a style I expected to find from a local microbrewery in CR.

Brew pours a clear bright golden orange color with ample carbonation. 1 finger of head is very short lived, completely gone in a few seconds. Nice thick and smooth aroma of light bready malts. Taste is a bit more subdued, not as full as I was hoping for from the smell. A small dose of herbal lemony hop pokes through. Kind of on the thin side for a traditional German style marzen, which I personally prefer compared to the overly heavy American style ones. Definitely enjoyable, quaffable, and surprisingly compatible with the Costa Rican climate. Nicely done, well balanced brew., nothing out of place

Saw this beer on tap for the first time in South Florida and decided to give it a try. It far exceeded my hopes! The outstanding quality of the beer was evident on the first sip. It's smooth and easy to drink, but has a rich malt flavor with just a hint of sweetness. It's a must-try!
