Canned on 7/17/19
Pours a turbid dirty golden orange with a finger and a half of bubbly white foam; very nice retention fades to a thin spotting of soapy lacing and slight collar.
Aroma opens with tropical tones highlighting ripe, tangy orange and mushy mango, then leading into gooseberry and white grape skins; lighter notes of sweet bread dough at a yeasty sweetness to the fold.
Taste is subtly more understated and fruity, with plenty of peach, apricot, and dank gooseberry immediately showing, while a nicely attenuated doughy sweetness builds through the mid-palate; a touch of pine and red grapefruit moves towards a balancing, bitter bite on the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a medium-full body, a bright juiciness shining through largely over the lower-level carbonation; consistent, but slightly drying as a crisp hop tingle hits into the finish.
Not the typical earthy/herbal raw tropical bomb I've become used to from Tilted Barn, but still an understated, easily enjoyed take on the style nonetheless. Plenty to keep me intrigued, with equally as much to build on; I'd enjoy seeing what they can do with a sweeter profile in a NEIPA.
