From the half liter bottle, it pours a clear yellow golden color with a very nice white head that slowly reduces. The nose gets crisp malt with some spice. The mouth follows with a crisp lightly malty flavor that finishes clean with a mild bitter aftertaste.

Nisko Pivo from Niska Pivara in Serbia is a lager that pours a translucent gold color with a white head. The nose has a crisp maltiness aroma. The flavor is clean and has mild malty taste. The mouthfeel is light, and I suspect would be easy drinking. I'd try this again if I make it to Serbia.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a two finger white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of lightly grainy lager malt, light grassy hops and oats. Flavor is grainy lager malt, mild grassy hops, hay with some astringency in the finish with lingering grassy hops and husky grain. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. This has slightly more grain character and less evidence of adjuncts than my Macedonian one the other day, but his one is uneven in flavor with an odd astringent hop bitterness in mid taste that lingers into a attenuated, grassy and stark grainy finish. I almost wanted to tasted some lightly sweet adjunct to pull things together. Not one of the better Euro lagers I've had; too unbalanced with the hops bitterness left stranded. Alas, only my second beer from Serbia and not the better one.

Bottle pour into a tulip glass.
Clear golden appearance with a modest foamy head that recedes quickly to a collar. Grain, scallion, celery, pepper, black tea notes. Moderate body, light carbonation, soft mouthfeel.

1 pint 0.9 fl oz. bottle, no date. Acquired a single bottle of this stuff from the local Binny's. I'm always intrigued to try cheap imported beers, this one probably being my first beer from Serbia.

Poured into Southern Tier stemware.

A - Pours a crisp clean golden colored body; good clarity, with 2 finger's worth of head.

S - Aromas of wheat, cereal grains, some soft cream, notes of minerals and well water.

T - Bland tasting; cereal grains, some wet card / paper board, notes of wood, perhaps some mild lager yeast presence.

M - Feel is fluid. Smooth, crisp, clean, semi-drying finish. Aptly carbonated. It's easy-drinking stuff, I will say that.

Overall, not a horrible beer, just extremely bland. Definitely reminiscent of typical American adjunct lager swill, but perhaps a tad more... i dont know, "authentic" tasting? I'll give it the 3 overall, but in reality, it's probably closer to a 2.75, except i don't use the .25 or .75 ratings. Going with the 3, and that's a generous review.

Nisko Lager Beer -----3/5.

16.9oz bottle (no visible date) poured into 16oz tulip. $3 at my local Europa market. Poured a bright, clean, crystal clear medium gold color with 3/4 inch of white head that had light-moderate retention and very low lacing.

The aroma had that solid "beer" scent of the style; nice earthy grains, and hops that were floral and a bit spicy.

Pretty similar on the tongue, solid grains and just enough hoppiness for contrast.

The body was crisp, smooth, and had a semi-dry finish.

Drinkability was very good, an easy quaffer for sure.

Overall, a nice and enjoyable brew. Worth grabbing if you see it.

Well now, how in the holy name of the Pope did my local, in-person trader, @tone77 come across this one?!? NBS 726 is winding down & so am I, but this is a beauty!

From the Bottle: "Nisko Lager Beer".

Well, dang, looked like "Huuko" to my untrained eye! Who cares?!? It's a Serbian beer! I am tight with the Cvijanovich family & if they aren't Serbs, then I'm wrong. Hmm.

I was so excited to Pop! the cap on a Serbian beer!

I could hear Novak Djokovic & Jelena Jankovic in my ears as I did so. I would never really have followed tennis or so many other sports had it not been for my parents, both of whom eschewed team sports in favor of the one-on-one challenge.

Once opened, I performed a C-Line pour that raised up two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention, leaving plenty of lacing in its wake. Color was a beautiful Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity. Nose seemed adjunct-free, at least of corn, but there was a strange metallic twang to it. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but certainly big for this style. The taste was bitter & vegetal, like they might have added the hops too early in the boil. I liked that it did not taste of any odd adjuncts, but at the same time, I did taste a metallic bitterness that was definitely out of place. It was not too TOO bad, but one was going to be plenty when I finished this 500-ml Bottle. Finish was semi-dry & actually kind of refreshing. It was one of those beers that kind of grew on me. I'd be willing to try it again from a CAN, but as a regular thing, not so much.

Bottle from Stacey, thanks for the country tick!
Fairly clear deep yellow bordering on gold with a bubbly white head. Lightly skunk pilsner malty that slowly fades. Sweet faint hops, not horrible.

Drink Nisko Pivo after coming in from the dog days of summer... and you get your money's worth. Otherwise, be selective.
I Had this when I was thirsty and the mouth wanted modest stimulation. I was fine.
Nisko Pivo (are the only two Serbian words I know) Looks and Smells average, a decent color and uneventful malt aroma.
It improves in the attack when I'm met with some firm hops that stimulate the salivary glands and then dry them out in nicely balanced finish.

Have this with food? Maybe appetizers or a sandwich. But a nice meal? That deserves the good stuff.
OA: a good effort that I give extra points for because it is my first beer from Serbia. (I know that because we Premium members get those stats. So, get with the program.)

A - Light gold with nice clarity and thin white foam on the top of the glass.

S - Grassy lemon honey malt aroma with some light pepper. Amazing how FAST the aroma on this beer dies once it hits the glass.

T - Cereal grain and honey with light earthy spiciness and wet cardboard.

M - Medium body.

O - Smelled really good on the initial pour but nose dived after that. wow.
