Served on tap at the brewery. Pours a clear golden yellow without a head, save for the white rim around the glass. Nose is lots of onion, earth, pungent and dank hops. Pretty nice hop bouquet. Taste follows suit nicely. Citrus upfront moves to caramel malts. However, a barrage of earthy dankness bombard the tongue and leave any memory of malts behind. Ends with more hops. Mouth is medium and creamy. Pretty good DIPA. Very hop forward and could use a touch more balance, but recommended overall, especially against the rather lackluster IPA.

Appearance: Bright, but cloudy, orange with moderate head and good lace.

Aroma: Floral hops and a good measure of sweet malt

Taste: A striking, unique, American Double IPA. Evidently dry-hopped to the gills with Cascades (?) (Others?) Very floral and tangy, quite pungent, with underlying sweet malt. A slight alcohol bite on the aftertaste. Upon reflection, this seems like it might be the double recipe for the Hop Harvest IPA.

Mouthfeel: Nice and creamy. Delightful texture, with lots of hop astringency grabbing your taste buds like vice-grips, and the above-mentioned alcohol.

Drinkability: Puzzling, but as much as I liked this, and as little as the high ABV slowed me down, it did seem more like a “change of pace” beer. Perhaps I am just unaccustomed to this particular hop profile. I would certainly like to try it again.
