22 oz. bomber > pint glass

A bright, deep brown-ish amber color, very good carboantion with a foamy off-white head that rises and fall's quickly. Very active looking.

Whoa...ginger it is. Brown sugar, peet moss maltiness...overall tanginess.

a spicey ginger and brown sugar malt flavor, but tsngy. subtle leafy hops pop out at the end. slight brown sugar with a light and crisp feel.

Not bad for what it is.

Poured from a 22 oz. bomber purchased directly from the brewer. Appearance is a hazy amber, with thin off-white head and good carbonation bubbles working thru the entire glass, yet little lacing. Aroma is very faint, and what is there seems to be slight ginger, but difficult to tell. Mouthfeel is tingly from the bubbles, but thin and somewhat watery. Taste, like nose, is weak, although the ginger comes thru a little more. This all leads to a finish that is slightly bitter and metallic, with a stale aftertaste.

I love ginger in Asian food, and soft drinks. However, if this is an indication of their effect on beer, I’ll pass.

A 22oz bottle. Billed as their ale with gingerroot added. It was a hazy dark red/brown with a small head. Aroma was all ginger, couldn't detect anything else. Tasted like gingersnap cookies. Still, a pretty bland and timid beer. Not one I'd want to drink a lot of. Come to think of it, one was plenty.

Appearance: Pours a reddish color, decent head on it

Smell: The smell of ginger hits you right away

Taste: The flavor of ginger is prominent and not very complex, boring

Mouthfeel: Bland

Drinkability: The ginger becomes too much. It was interesting to try but I wouldn't have another one

Appearance: pours a reddish copper color with a tall 2" head. Thick clinging lacing develops.

Smell: the nose easily picks up the ginger and some caramel.

Taste: the flavor is a very pleasant, as the ginger is not overwhelming. Caramel, spice, biscuits, and mild bitterness round it out.

Mouthfeel: mildly crisp at the start. The finish is relatively clean as the ginger drops off the tongue quickly.

Drinkability: not a bad drinking beer, but not one to get overly excited about.

Appearance and Presentation – 22 oz bomber poured into my pint glass. The beer is a deep red-brown with a billowing off-white head that sticks around nicely.

Smell – Ginger is the main aroma, but hints of the sweet malt are able to slip through as well.

Taste – Very mellow flavor, good fresh ginger taste that does not have the bite of the premium ginger ales that I love so much. The beer base is right on target for a mild, a bit of malt sweetness maybe a hint of hop bitterness, but really not much flavor at all. I have not yet had the standard Harbor Lighthouse Ale that this beer is based on, but the ginger really seems to save this beer from being boring.

Mouthfeel - This has a pretty light body, but considering how low in alcohol this is they did a pretty good job avoiding a watery mouthfeel.

Drinkability and Notes – Good session beer, particularly if you are a ginger fan as I am. Refreshing and easy to drink while still having some good flavor, a worthy pick up if you live in Maine, or happen to be there getting some Cadillac Mountain Stout.

Pours a one-finger white head fades quickly leaving no lace, cloudy amber color, with a ton of chunky bits in glass bottom. Very light carbonation and medium bodied. Starts sweet I don't detect much ginger, finish is clean, this is a refreshing summer beer. $3.99 for a 22oz bottle from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

I had a bottle of this at my favorite pub, The Cock & Bull, in Sarasota. Thanks Dawn and Howie!

This beer is a nice pale color with a bit of yeast sediment, thanks to the bottle conditioning. The smell is very good, assuming you like ginger.

I had this beer paired with a great salad with a strawberry/Balsamic vinegar reduction. Wow.

As the name suggests, this is a mild beer with a nice ginger flavor. This isn't a gingersnap-type flavor, rather it's like ginger root. This is a good thirst-quenching brew. It's very easy to drink and quite refreshing.

Traded some spice with this one on 2/17/2005. 1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bomber poured twice in a shaker glass.

Film of bubbling hot spring carbonation with some ridges at the edges. Dark copper hue with plenty of clarity and lots of continuous action. Ginger, candied yams, melted and hardened sugar on nose with a jumpiness to the whole affair. Ginger is not overdone on mouth, though it is the first thing noted, and almost verges on a clover aspect that you find in some winter seasonals; sweetness imparted by light toffee flavoring; pleasant malt profile and a light hop presence mixing with ginger. Very clean finish and fairly light on the palate.

The color of this beer really impressed me, because most brewers who brew a "ginger" beer use some sort of pale ale as the base. These guys use a brown ale/mild ale. Unfortunately, the interesting aspects of this beer stop there. I would say that they were quite bold in their effort in producing this, because aside from a very mild ginger spice flavor there is no other hopping done with this beer that is noticeable. The ginger beers that I have had which my pallate enjoys finish with a nice spice kick. The finish in this beer is null and void, my taste buds were searching for something that just was not present. I think they should take the wraps off of their recipe book and add more ginger and perhaps a mild hopping or two.

This interesting brew pours with a small head and a deep brown color. The aroma is distinctly of ginger and a hint of malt. Sharp bitter ginger is the apparent initial flavor lightly supported by a thin dry malt body. There is almost no noticeable hop presence. Seems like this brew would do well if it had a purpose like pairing with or cooking food.
