Notes:
The Manly Men Big Wicked IPA is like any other IPA only more so. This is the big brother to our New Guy IPA and is similar in many ways. It uses Columbus Hops. Columbus has a 15% Alpha Acid and is earthy, spicy, pungent, with some citrus over tones. We also decided to balance these hops with more malts that result in an ABV of 6.8%. The result is a powerfully pleasing IPA that may make you forget your Mama's name, or, at least any other IPA.

Appearance: moderate carbonation, 1/4 inch head, clear, gold in color
Smell: light piney hops
Taste: light toasted malt and nice mix of hops--piney, floral, and a bit of earth..grapefruit sticks out
Mouthfeel: light body, moderate carbonation, bitter with a dry bitter aftertaste
Overall: A complex and bitter IPA. This is a good to decent beer, that I would have again. That said, there are a lot of better offerings in the style, so I think a 3.5 is about right.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy orange-copper coloring with a clingy, filmy, white head. Nose of caramel, biscuit, and orange/citrus highlights. Flavors of resiny hops on the forward tongue, with a blast of grapefruit, orange, and lime on a biscuit and toffee backbone. Mild spicing into the bitter and citrusy aftertaste. Smooth, mid-bodied brew. The bitterness builds into a dry, resin linger in the finish. Very solid brew.

Poured from tap into pint glass at the brewery 6/29/12. Pours a golden orange with slight head and nice fresh bitter hop aromas. Taste is slightly fruity fresh hop and nice malty balance. Slightly bitter, but aromatic and fresh. Overall, really nice IPA, well worth a try.

On-tap at the brewery, served in a shaker pint. This is a scaled-up version of their New Guy IPA, similarly brewed with 100% Columbus hops.
A: Slightly hazy orange body under a creamy eggshell head. Solid retention, tons of lace. Great.
S: Dank, herbal, spicy Columbus. Some grapefruit, pine, and earthiness. Aromatic, powerful, and generally aggressive. Hell yeah.
T: Intensely hoppy up front, with huge herbal and citrusy notes giving way to a heavy, bitter, somewhat boozy finish. A bit much in the end, but still quite enjoyable.
M: Lively, frothy, prickly medium body. Over the top, but not bad.
O: This one was a trifle harsh, but what do you expect when you only use 15%AA Columbus? Not an IPA for the faint of heart, but worth the challenge.
Cheers!
