Exploring the darker side of the Belgian farmhouse, Ethereal brewers simply cannot help themselves with the funk and fauna of wild yeast and then the allure of today's most coveted hops. It's culminating taste is something of ancient yesteryear of beer.
Spacecataz pours a medium amber hue with the built in haze of unfiltered translucence and hop usage. Topped with a short statured froth, the nose packs a toasty, nutty, and fruit-filled perfume. Caramelized scents wrap around apple, pineapple and marmalade before the taste of caramel and granola sooth the palate early on.
As the middle palate unfolds, the bulk of taste prefers the hops over fruit and spice esters. Orange, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, apricot and nectarine all carry a bright and fruity taste that dives head first into a bitter taste that's off-IPA. Peppery and earthy, the beer's finish is dusty and balsa-like in its wood undertones with a follow-up of bruised, buttery red apple.
Medium-bodied yet trending lighter across the palate, the beer finishes semi-dry with a resinous bitter taste of grapefruit and tropical fruit rind. Lightly grassy, herbal and with a slim funk of damp hay, its the bruised character of fruit that hooks up the senses and limits the beer's success.
