Light, crisp and refreshing- Ethereal's melon-infused, mild-mannered saison is a taste that takes the senses to the summertime fields of the Belgian low-land farms.
Its hazy golden appearance carries a spirited carbonation that's partly spritzy and partly creamy. Seeming lightly of sparkling white wine, those notions attract the nose with white grape, musty citrus and orchard fruit and the taste is alive with soft pilsner and wheat sweetness and creaminess.
As the maltiness lifts, any lingering sweetness is quietly ushered away in favor for the fruit and spice medley that unfolds over the middle palate. Dry white grapefruit, tart white grape, under-ripened orange, dehydrated tropical fruit and dry melon play lightly on the tongue while a quick rebuttal of dry hay, white pepper and a grassy hop bite round out the balance. All the while, the rustic elements of straw and saddle leather drift about the palate.
Very light in body, the beer's creamy upstart finishes with a bright and effervescent pang which highlights the beer's fruit and spice character and suppresses well the bed of graininess that gives the ale its roots. Its a charming yet understated 'table' beer that's meant to quench the thirst and beat the heat any time of year.
