Union Barrelhouse

Nice, clean bar/restaurant with outside seating. Fair number of TVs to catch games, but could fairly easily be ignored. Went a little later into the night, and then place seemed a less busy than expected.

They had about 25 or so beers on tap, and a small bottle list that didn't seem much to talk about. The draft beers however included a few nice offerings. The selection leaned a little to the lighter beers, and I'm beginning to wonder if being in the heat of the desert has most places in Phoenix leaning that way. There were a few local offerings, but also a decent national presence on the board. They have a lineup of beers, but the one I got a taste of was unimpressive.

Service started a little slow when we first got there, especially considering the light volume of customers, but the manager was polite and got things moving along (without us flagging him down). Afterwards the service was up to par, but not exceptional.

Enjoyed this place and can see it being a place I would frequent if I lived in the area.

Solid place that has been hit and miss on service. On tap hunter so always nice to know what is on tap before heading in. Generally has a good selection with the occasional exceptional offer on tap. My girlfriend gets a service industry discount which is nice and certainly helps with the tab. Dog friendly patio another plus for us. BrautHaus right next door if the tap selection at UBH just not enough for you.

I'd consider this Scottsdale fusion, where a Scottsdale bar in Scottsdale tries to appeal to the working man who's got an eye for a "hipper" place with a solid beer selection and a decent bourbon/whiskey variety. Rotating taps, better than average food and good service makes this a place I'll continue to visit when in the area looking for a place to grab a brew.

Place has a clean, modern feel with the atmosphere and polite staff. Great selection of drafts, both regional and local stuff here. Went to a cool Goose Island event here.

Plenty of parking on the streets back behind this place which sits on Scottsdale Road, right next to Brat Haus.
