Not bad and smooth for 10% beer, but its not up there at imperial stout expectations. Can from the source, decent drinkability. Stout plus. Competently made.

1 PINT can
Served in a snifter
This beer pours black and is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves decent lacing.
The smell is dark chocolate and anise.
The taste follows the smell. I get dark chocolate up front. Then anise comes through the middle. I get hints of alcohol and just enough bitterness to keep it from being sweet.
Slick mouthfeel and full bodied
This beer is in line with Founders Imperial Stout or Bells Expedition Stout. The anise stouts aren't my favorite flavorwise, but there is no denying that this is a well made stout.

Canned December 2017; drank 4/26/18 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big tan head; a thick curtain of frothy lace.
Cream, fresh earth & dark chocolate notes in the nose.
Creamy, medium thick mouthfeel. Cream, dark chocolate & fresh earth flavors. No booze heat.
A harsh RIS, to be sure; not one I'll return to as it lacks complexity.
