Bomber into a Duvel tulip. Big thanks to vonschplieffen for bringing this one back from Taos and sharing.
A: Black body; 1" head of fine light-brown foam. Ok retention, spotty lace. Nice.
S: Whoa. Spicy, woody, smoky, and lightly malty. Unique and fascinating.
T: A bit sweeter than the nose, with some dark fruit joining the piñon smoke. Nice spice on the finish. Tasty.
O: I didn't know what to expect out of piñon-smoked porter, but I found its unique woodiness and spice characteristics to be entirely enjoyable. Tasty stuff.
Cheers!

Smoked porter, from a bomber purchased at the brewpub. The label was written in Sharpie.
1 finger rapidly receding tan head, opaque black body. Some surface memory and faint lacing.
Smells of smoked meat, some black coffee.
Taste follows the smell-- relatively clean finishing with some hops. Mainly smoked meat/BBQ. Very faint red grape and some vegetal hop bitterness, some dark chocolate.
Mouthfeel is good: smooth and complementary to the taste.
Overall a decent smoked porter, not stingy on the smoke.
