I think this is a good beer. Wifey doesn’t approve. Strong vanilla nose, which I must like. Mouth feel is great, substantial. I think this is a good beer. Look is frankly off putting, I didn’t think I would mind the light stout, but I’m not a fan. I need to see that dark roasty toastyness to really get into it. Missing many notes beyond the strong vanilla.

Had this beer poured from draft into a snifter. Clear orangish dark yellow color with a nice beige head and pretty curtain lacing. Smell and taste of milk chocolate and vanilla cream sandwich cookies. Very tasty. Smooth, full rich feel. Overall a pleasant beer to finish the evening.

Chill hazed orange with a small off-white colored head.

Smells sweet and strongly of vanilla. Strong scents of oak and caramel. Not picking up on the coffee in the scent. Intensely sweet smelling. A Giant vanilla scented beer.

Starts out bittersweet with a intense taste of vanilla, a lot like drinking Vanilla ice cream mix. VANILLA that one word really sums up this beer. A very sweet beer but it does calm down after a bit. Some caramel, but mostly this is vanilla.

Mouthfeel is thick.

Overall it is OK. These blond stouts kind of warp you taste buds. Pretty much this is an over the top vanilla beer.

I thought the Caucasian, a White Russian Imperial Stout, was pretty good. It had an odd color for a stout, but it said white.

Look: semi-clear light golden with a thin white head

Aroma: coffee, vanilla, roasted malts

Flavor: typical Russian Imperial Stout but with some significant vanilla flavor, otherwise roasted malts, coffee, chocolate

Feel: full body

this is a cool trend lately, the white stout. these guys have done a real nice job with it, and along with the fire ant funeral, this was my other favorite beer at texas ale project. honey colored brew, but it still must have some roast to it somehow, i get smoke and char in the aroma for sure, some coffee too must be, grainy, smells like it could be dark. lots of vanilla in the flavor, do they add it in here? its really forward in the taste. lots of booze coming through too, has an irish coffee sort of quality about it there, with the fusel booze and the java. lots of body and really velvety in texture, that part of this is dialed in nicely, but there is a lot of leftover sugar here, hard to finish even one for me because of it. most of the time these blonde stouts seem more like a gimmick than a beer worth brewing more than once, but this represents one of the finer executions of it in recent memory for me. definitely much better than novelty item status. these guys were cool, and they had some fun beers that are a few tweaks away from being awesome. well worth checking out.
