Pours a light golden Amber color. Aroma is funky hops and a little bitterness. Flavor is a light citrus with a touch of sweetness and bitterness on the back end. Drinks pretty well and overall a very solid beer.

Can, no date:
Beer pours a lightly cloudy dirty golden - maybe a lean towards orange. Head build up in maybe a slightly off-white head (medium bubbles) that gets to at least a finger on a lighter pour. In a nucleated glass, the head becomes foamy/fluffy and does provide some lacing.
Nose hit me as the seal on the can broke. Analysis yields a bit of dankness that casts a little shroud over the tropical and melon like scents I am also getting. Fresh vegetable garden like green notes also is a general impression, and a little oniony note creeps in late.
Even though it says plain old pale ale, this thing definitely leans and might cross over into the plain old IPA category. There is a little bit of hay-like graininess to open, but really the hops dictate the taste. First a little herbal greenness meets my palate. Then I get some tropical notes before a lightly piney note grabs hold and lingers into the end taste. Warmth mellows out the flavors, and in a minor detraction, seems to muddle them more than I'd like - bringing it back to the APA realm. Late in the beer, the tropical notes start to peak through again.
Thoroughly enjoyed my first sips. I think as my palate adjusted, the excitement it was enjoying faded a tad. For a lower ABV beer, this has a nice feel to it (could use just a tad less carbonation bite, to nitpick) - medium in body at least. Definitely would like to give this one another go.

Nice IPA but it get ruined by an odd smokiness. I would like to revisit this beer after they get their QC issues under control because it has some potential. Sad I wasted my money on this costly crowler...

Rating based on 4 oz pour at the brewery. Also brought a crowler home, which I opened and drank within days, that had the smokiness that others have noted here and elsewhere that made it undrinkable. Had the same smokiness with the crowler of Citra that I purchased at the same time.

32oz can into a cool nonic. Not-so-pale ale, very slightly hazy, a slight head which fades out quickly but leaves lots of sticky lace. S: Lightly piney, floral, vanilla. T: mild pine, lemon flowers, vanilla toffee. F: smoooooooth, creamy, creamy smooth, very light carbonation. O: Nice beer, very enjoyable...
Edited to add: Had this beer again a month later and it was a totally different thing - not nearly so enjoyable, taste of burnt, smoky malt or something. Didn't adjust my original rating but I won't be dropping a wad of cash on this again.
