Pours a hazy, deep amber orange color with a fluffy pure white head. Leaves some OK lacing around the glass.
The aroma is very sweet and tropical. I get tons of orange and honeydew melon. On the back end is the faintest hint of pine. The sweet, bready malt character is present, but very well hidden.
The taste starts off juicy and sweet, with the citrus and melon notes drawing the most attention. Then the bittersweet, onion and garlic notes hit and stay with me to the very end of each sip. An interesting flavor, to say the least. But not unpleasant.
The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very creamy and smooth, yet dry and bitter on the back end.
Overall, a good IPA. This was my first beer brewed with exclusively equinox hops and I'm impressed with how this was done. The "green pepper" aroma/flavor that is a part of the equinox experience is something I couldn't quite detect here. It had more of an oniony quality that was odd, but still pretty good.
