Was told this beer was made for a recent wedding (hence the passion fruit?) Tried it at the taproom and found it to be really superior so took some home.
Pours a very cloudy to opaque dusty yellow-orange color - a little like grapefruit and orange juice mixed together. 1 finger head that settles very quickly to a film with little retention and lacing.
The aroma is pungent and intoxicating with dense wafts of tangy passion fruit. They brewed it with tons of passion fruit pulp so this makes sense. Nothing else cuts through that smell if it is there.
The taste starts off a little sour and tangy with (no surprise) strong passion fruit notes. The sour becomes less obvious with time. There is a bit of a wheat feel to the thin malt behind it - don't know what they used for grain. Really though this tastes like passion fruit juice with a whiff of some citrusy hop in the way background.
Feel is just like juice as well. Thick, smooth and creamy. Low bitterness but the tanginess makes up for it.. Has a very satisfying, lupulin-like feel, like a Trillium IPA.
I really like this one. GC got it done right IMO. I'm usually not a fruit additive beer guy but they won me over with this one. Nice creativity and skillful execution.
