this was pretty good, but somewhat less interesting than a lot of the beers they serve at their taproom. apparently they have a small line of beers made elsewhere for distribution, and this is one of them. its subtle, well made, and not as interesting on the yeast, it seems cooler fermented or a more mild strain than i look for in the style. its also quite a bit maltier than most of these are, with a little light amber color there and some grain weight that is unneeded, but makes this stand out i suppose. the hops taste fresh to me, and while i think the could be ramped up a bit, i like the flavor they add, and i like that its not only in the finish but all the way through. fuller bodied and sort of creamy feeling without much bitterness. carbonation is average, which is to say that its low for the belgian style, a really easy drinking beer in the end though, just not terribly exciting, especially next to all the crazy innovative stuff they have at their brewery. i understand the need to have some more basic stuff out there in the market though, and this is well done for what it is. still, i preferred almost all the others on site much more!
