Appearance: Poured with a thumb's worth of head that did not lace, nor retain. The body is somewhere between bronze and brass as the orange comes out as it is put up to the light. Carbonation looks fairly thin in the body.
Smell: Ginger by far is the dominant scent with spicy coriander and orange in the background with maybe a hint of biscuit malt. Ample potency from the get go that did not require warming up.
Taste: Ginger permeates the entire beer, as it starts us with some mild biscuit with the ginger which then takes a back seat to a very potent coriander spice and maybe even lemongrass before the ginger returns with a small splash of hops a creamy end.
Mouthfeel: What I like is the ginger seems to go along with the ride and stays with the ebb and flows of the beer and isn't just a ginger explosion. What I don't like is that coriander herb note needs to be dialled back, as it does explode in the middle. The creaminess I like, but the lack of head I don't.
Drinkability: Light bodied, but I suppose that's not really surprising. The malt and hops don't make a lot of a presence here, the ginger and coriander do, as they should as this is what the beer is explicitly saying it is going for. Refreshing and a great summer drinker.
Final Thoughts: One very minor gripe is the beer states it would go great with pho or curry. The pho I can see, but curry? It would have to be Massaman curry, as I could see this getting drowned out by more potent varieties. That said, that's a very minor gripe. All in all, I'd say this is a solid and interesting experience that just needs a bit of tweaking. Thumbs up.
