From a fresh growler to a tulip glass.
A-The beer is darker in color than many pale ales; sort-of honey colored, actually. The head is dense, off-white, and about one and one-half fingers tall to start. Retention is pretty good and the head clings to the glass as I drink leaving some fine lacing. The beer is pretty murky. Looks like an IPA.
S-The aroma also suggests an IPA with a big dose of almost-tropical hops. I smell sweet, zesty orange flavors, with mild bitterness. The malt bill smells of bread and toast. Hoppy, but with a good balance.
T-The taste is less hoppy than the smell would lead you to expect. I taste more of the pale malts with dough and bread flavors. Also a bit of caramel sweetness. Hops are still there, however, with sweet, tropical orange flavors and a bit of tea-like herbalness. Tasty.
M-The beer is medium to full in body, but not heavy or filling. Carbonation from my growler pour was ultra-fine and smooth. Super easy to drink.
O-This is a very solid beer and one of my favorite pale ales around, actually. It is definitely "new school" in that it leads with the hops, but the beer has a nice balance and it drinks very, very well. I will buy more of this.

this is easily the best beer i have had so far from these guys, a bright southern hemisphere hopped pale ale, light enough to crush ten of, flavorful enough to never get bored with it, and just one of the more dynamic pales going, and i know a lot of its awesomeness is attributed to the type and quantity of hops used and not necessarily brewers talent, but there is something remarkable about this beer nevertheless. its pale in color, with a light orange sunny glow and a little haze under an inch or more of frothing white head. nose and taste are all new zealand hops, fruit punchy and tropical, but not sweet in the least, delicate like a green tea, with just enough bitterness. so refreshing and crushable, i just wish the would serve it to me in a bigger glass! by far the most impressive of the beers ive had from these guys, maybe one of the best pales in our city right now.
