This is an interesting concept, experimental hop like other breweries, but going by date so each date is different, and you know how old it is, just wish I knew what the hops were. Also my first from this brewery
Pours a decent frothy almost 1 finger head that fades at a slower pace, nice sticky lacing, semi hazy golden color.
Nose a strange blend of hops, starts with a mild citrus, tangerine, almost lemon, some stone fruit apricot like, then a weird herbal vegetal thing, some of it is herbal resin hop thing but also seems like vegetable soup like vegetal thing, oniony maybe that's what it really is, yeah that green onion and a little resin sap, maybe a touch of tropical
Taste starts more bleh, again like vegetable soup herbal flavor, a little onion, a little vegetable broth thing, some citrus but not much, more stone fruit apricot jam, tree fruit, a little pine and resin, a bit of a strange candy malt, fair bitterness. Finish is sticky a little sweet, more vegetal flavors lingering, a little resin and onion, so weird.
Mouth is med bod, decent carb.
overall this was a huge mess of a beer, I can't even finish it, not sure if off flavors of the poorly made beer, or just bad hops, this beer was not enjoyable at all, and I'm definitely not finishing it. Doesn't mean this brewery doesn't have other beers that are good, this was just a huge miss.

This beer pours a very hazy golden color with a 2 finger, fluffy bright white head that eventually recedes to a half finger cap that sticks around for the duration. Some white floaties swirl around the bottom third of the glass.
Smell is very strong ruby red grapefruit, with orange creamsicle, some over ripe mango, dank earthiness and resinous pine.
Taste is the same. Very bright, juicy grapefruit is the star of the show with the other flavors dancing in the background. No real malt presence. There is the slightest hint of bitterness on the finish.
Feel is light, smooth and creamy. Moderate carbonation.
Overall a great IPA. Very easy drinking and flavorful. First I've had from Common Roots and definitely won't be the last.
May 19, 2017Smell is very strong ruby red grapefruit, with orange creamsicle, some over ripe mango, dank earthiness and resinous pine.
Taste is the same. Very bright, juicy grapefruit is the star of the show with the other flavors dancing in the background. No real malt presence. There is the slightest hint of bitterness on the finish.
Feel is light, smooth and creamy. Moderate carbonation.
Overall a great IPA. Very easy drinking and flavorful. First I've had from Common Roots and definitely won't be the last.
