Day 1 of the City Beer Tours 12 Days of Christmas box. Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of sweet cereal grain, slight fruit. Tastes of sweet grain with nice fruit notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Poured from a pint can into a pint glass. Decent 2 finger white head, with a deep yellow golden bod. Nice yeasty aroma. The first sip has the classic elements of a lagered beer - some bread flavors with a bit of sweetness followed by a clean hoppy finish. Crisp and clean mouthfeel. Overall good lager by Common Roots.

nice lager, neither as light and delicate nor as minimal as the ones that actually come from germany, but i still think they have this pretty well dialed, and i dont mind the little extra bit of body. this is golden honey colored, maybe a little more yellow than that, with a lasting inch plus of excited white head and lots of rising carbonation, but true confession, i also like ripping this right from the can when its ice cold from the beer fridge. the nose on this is less german than others, more nutty and grainy without the dusty european aspect, still mineral forward but maybe with a bit of a less familiar water chemistry for the style, there more weight and less crispness and it doesnt seem a product of the yeast, which is loosely european and subtle in the mix, biscuit and cracker and fresh cracker grain simplicity. the flavor is similar, a little bitter hop thing late but still mild to me overall, maybe not noble, but its grassy and light just the same, light lemon in the mix, mild and way behind the sturdy grain, never sweet but still with some mid palate heft. bready to me overall, i am thankful for the back end dryness and the high carbonation which keeps in the drinkable and refreshing realm, but its a little fuller for a helles either way, a different take on the the style but a four season drinker of a lager just the same. it was good to drink a few from common roots when i was back east, i like what that do. maybe less of a head turner here, but still good beer.

Found this in the wine shop in my building as a single. Had no idea this was from upstate NY, an area I frequent in the summer. Anyway, nice sipping beer that have a solid helles bite. I was searching for a flavorful non IPA beer and this hit the spot. As the can depicts, this would be fabulous by a body of water on a hot summer day.

Somewhat murky goldenrod body with two fingers of off-white foam and mild lacing. Smells strongly of malt and honey, light yeast lingers, subtle nose. Taste also leads with the honey dipped malts but also has strong cracker, decent lager yeast and a finish grassy hop kiss. Feel is light, malty, but has little definition, smooth but kind of bland with carb being a little low even.
