One step above our pale ale in both alcohol content and hoppiness, our Independence IPA is a celebration of freedom and the wonderful hop plant. Clocking in at 6.5% alcohol and 65 IBU’s, our IPA has 3 hop additions during the boil, followed by a hop back treatment and a dry hop addition to finish things off. California Ale yeast is used to accentuate our all American blend of Nugget and Cascade hops.

on draft, in pint glass
clear, dark golden in color, white head. Aroma and taste are spot on for a West Coast style IPA - mix of citrus and dank hops, mild malt flavor, clean bitter finish. medium bodied.

Pours a hazy pale gold with a finger of foamy head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring with some lacing. Faint floral Aroma. Taste is grain with a hint of orange.

From a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug it went. The color is a light bright golden amber, more translucent than opaque. There's little head and glass lacing. The aroma is OK, not flattering, but there's a little malt and hop sensation to be had. It’s a rather mediocre AIPA. Sure, it's got just enough hops and malt to be satisfying, but the body is on the weak side and there's no complexity to the taste. A four pack of pint cans was purchased for $9.99 and that was just about the limit for being worth it.

Molly Pitcher Brewing Co. "Independence IPA"
on tap at the brewery on 8 September 2018
Notes: Mostly clear amber colored body beneath a short head of white foam. Average head retention and lacing (dirty bar glass?). Limited aroma of grainy malt and mild floral and citrusy hops ~ acceptable for a pale ale but disappointing for an IPA. The flavor follows the aroma with bready and lightly caramelish malt that's lightly threaded through with floral, citrusy, woody, herbal, and slightly spicy hops. Solidly bitter with a dry finish. Medium bodied with a standard carbonation level. Reminds me of so many pale ale/IPAs from 1995 - 2000; mostly English in nature, meaning somewhat subdued/not bold, nor really unique, but still done with American hops and yeast for a slight twist. It's just a basic kind of IPA but somehow given the Molly Pitcher theme it kind of works for them.
