Pours clear, dark brown in color with one inch head. Taste is caramel, vanilla, cookie, and roasted malt. Heavy bodied, sweet, low carbonation. Not sure how different this is from Creme Brule. Might not be able to differentiate in a blind tasting. More cookie Taste but very similar. This is Southern Tier doing what they do best...sweet stout but not cloying. Better than other recent Tier releases.

A - Black pour with thin caramel colored lacing.
S - Peanut butter and chocolate candy bar dominate the nose.
T - Peanut butter, toasted chocolate, some cookie dough, and light chocolate bitterness on the backside but overall finishes sweet.
M - Thick and silky with smooth carbonation on the tongue and some warming in the back of the throat.
O - As advertised.

Against better judgment, two brown twelve ounce bottles were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. There will be no driving, nor operating machinery after this is finished. The brew is almost black coffee brown and there's a lovely tan head on top that seems to be enduring. It smells sweet, mostly of chocolate and caramel. The roasted barley malt is far behind that. It tastes almost like a dark chocolate caramel candy bar. Thankfully, there's some bitterness from the hops and roasting to knock down some of the sweetness. It's an OK sweet chocolate dessert beer, but there are better. The bitterness and the sweetness seem distinct, rather than combining into a nicely layered flavor. The mouthfeel is merely passable, odd considering there's lactose within. The 10% ABV isn't at all harsh, but you'll know it's there. There wasn't much glass lacing, but enough to assist the look rating. Probably more a take it, on certain circumstances, than avoid it, as a final opinion, but often there will be better options.
