This Lambic inspired ale was fermented and aged in French and American Oak barrels deep in the belly of the Bozeman Underground. Over a period of 48 months a blend of bacteria and wild yeast created a complex flavor profile that is tart, funky, and fruity. During the final months of aging raspberry and cherry was added to individual barrels and allowed to referment. This year’s selected blend of barrels prominently features the cherry addition while the raspberry adds subtle sweet notes in the background.

great series of beers, and this one is awesome, fruit forward, bracingly sour, intense, nice mix of both fruits obvious, summery and ripe and red and tangy, a little more acetic to me than good lambic, but i get where they are coming from with this, can appreciate some wheat, some oak, and some wild elements. a little hazy, pinkish orange from the tap, fizzy like soda but its head doesnt stay. the nose makes me pucker right away, more acidic and bacterial than bretty or truly spontaneous, but its well mature and its interesting on the ferment still, same with the taste, really sharp and astringent and limiting and limited, but unique enough to be good still. faintly cheesy in the nose, an isovaleric thing, but i dont taste that even at temperature. the fruit is great, tangy pie cherry, red currant, even grapefruit, and then the obvious raspberry, very little sweetness left to the fruit, but their identities remain. wheaty, some pils malt maybe, a little oxidation, not unflattering in the style, but also perhaps already peaked. i like the layers of fruit, they come in waves, both pulling equal weird, faintly medicinal at the end, red winey, yummy. could be a little more bubbly and a little less sour, but thats nitpicking, this is fun and distinctive and nicely executed overall! kriek-esque.
