11.2oz bottle, no date - 2019. Opened 1-11-20.
Imperial Stout aged 18 months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels.
Dark brown with a 1/3" beige head. The head retains for a few minutes and dissipates into a ring with an island that hangs solid.
The nose is dominated by bourbon booze and barrel early. Sweet caramel and vanilla begin to show after some time.
Cherry cola like sweet flavor along with boozy soaked malts and strangely enough - stone fruits. Light molasses and a hint of roasted malt.
Body is medium at best, feels a touch thin for an Imperial Stout. Carbonation is right on. Long barrel and booze finish. Some warming at 13.2% is evident.
Very good, tons of flavor and nothing is overdone. The look and feel is off for the style...color is light and the feel is medium...should be black and full. Beyond that, really tasty barrel aged flavors here.
2nsd bottle 9-18-21. Initial rating confirmed, mellowed some - tasty stuff.
