11.2oz - 2019. Opened 1-12-20.
Dark brown stout with a 1/4" beige head - falls quickly to a thin ring. Some (coconut?) floaties on top. No lacing.
Initial aroma is booze soaked dark fruits. Wood is apparent early. Hint of sweet coconut. Plenty of bourbon in the nose.
Sweet malt flavor, close to syrup like intensity. The coconut is more apparent in the flavor, sweeter side. Brown sugar, dark fruit, vanilla, and bourbon. I like the coconut here. No roast or charred malt presence.
Medium body (thin for an Imperial Stout) with low carbonation. Medium length boozy coconut finish. Hint of tannin.
Okay.
Lacks the color and body of an Imperial Stout. I feel like this should be listed differently...strong ale maybe? The brewery labels it as an Imperial Stout so not a BA error, but rating this against style brings it down a notch.
Second bottle on 5-29-20, raising the aroma a tick to 3.75 and the feel a tick to 3.5.
