"This is ain't your dad's IPA." Actually, it is! We went back to an old-school way of making a classic West-Coast IPA. C-malts and C-hops create the base for our Dad Bod, while some other traditional and new-school hops round out the dank and piney character. We know it's been hard to work on your beach bod lately, so keep up the Dad Bod instead with this beer. Cheers!

Grabbed this and way too much other stuff on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. I’m a sucker for Abnormal beers as it is actually my top-rated brewery (min. 10 reviews) at the time of writing this. Abnormal’s website described it as ““This is ain’t your dad’s IPA.” Actually, it is! We went back to an old-school way of making a classic West-Coast IPA. I’m usually not a fan of that many hops in a beer, but always willing to try new beers.
Poured a clear light amber color with three fingers of off-white frothy head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled dank resin, pine, garlic, onion, vegetable, cat litter, black pepper, grapefruit rind and herbal. Simcoe led the way with also some Columbus and Ekuanot, and maybe some Idaho 7. Just as good out of the can with resin, Simcoe and onion leading the way. Definitely a West Coast DIPA. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted even better than the nose. In order got big Simcoe, dank resin, pine, onion, garlic, black pepper, Columbus, grapefruit rind, herbal, vegetable, Ekuanot, hints of black licorice and some Idaho 7. Wasn’t really getting Amarillo or Motueka. Really smooth for 9.2 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.50)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Just an excellent West Coast DIPA. Wow. Just got better each sip. (Overall - 4.25)
