Oktoberfest is here! We teamed up with the Lager Legend himself, Doug Hasker over at Puesto to create this classic style with a twist. We started with the traditional Munich malts and Northern Brewer hops. Mexican lager yeast and a light dry hop of Grüngeist were used to create a Mexican lager flare. The finished product is malty yet crisp with a hint of lime.

Grabbed a can of this on a recent trip to Windmill Farms, forgetting that I recently had a taster of it. Gave it a taster of it a 3.75 on Untappd on Oct. 1, 2021 at the Abnormal Brewery. Their website called this “Oktoberfest is here! We teamed up with the Lager Legend himself, Doug Hasker over at Puesto to create this classic style with a twist. Poured a clear medium-to-deep amber color with four fingers of rocky-to-frothy off-white head. Could see lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass at different speeds. Outstanding foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled wood, toasty malts, toffee, caramel, wheat bread and some skunk. Smell wasn’t quite as good out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted similar to the nose. Got toasty malts, toffee, caramel, wheat bread, wood and lots of bitterness. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
A little better out of the can tonight than the taster a few months earlier. (Overall - 4.00)

This is a collaboration with Puesto Brewing, hence the accent and Mexican lager yeast with the Munich malts and Northern Brewer hops. Handsome clear coppery amber with adequate foam. Perhaps less carbonation than optimum, certainly not the creamy Germany ideal.
Flavor is warm and roasted with caramel notes, but not overly sweet. Smooth grainy taste, hints of apple, and ust enough hops to balance. An edge, but nothing you'd call bitter. But just right. This is about my favorite Oktoberfest of this past fall season. From the 16 oz can purchased at BottleCraft. Stamp is "Best by 09/30/2022" which seems wildly optimistic to me.
