Let’s be honest, the only reason we hike is to earn another beer. Trail Buds is the perfect after hike reward. Paying homage to Italian style pilsners, we dry-hopped this beer with 100% American Noble hops to give it a West Coast feel. Expect a super crisp finish with hints of berry and citrus. As essential as sunscreen, water and trail mix, enjoy this brew while you snap your photos at the summit.

Glass: Three Weavers 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
Price: $3.39
From: Windmill Farms in San Diego (Del Cerro), Calif.
Purchased: Sept. 9, 2022
Consumed: Oct. 9, 2022
Misc.: Canned on Aug. 24, 2022
Snuck over to Windmill Farms to pick up some Aurora Hoppyalis and The Lightest One, and a few others single cans. Abnormal’s website calls this beer “Let’s be honest, the only reason we hike is to earn another beer. Trail Buds is the perfect after hike reward. Poured a straw-to-pale yellow clear color with three fingers of frothy-to-fizzy off-white head. Surprisingly not a lot of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass. Could only see a few. Good watery lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled citrus zest, sourdough bread, grass, floral, mixed berry, tangerine, grapefruit and perfume. Smelled even better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got citrus zest, bitter grass, grapefruit peel, sourdough bread, Noble hops, black pepper, floral, mixed berry, tangerine, perfume, soap, aspirin, lemon and earthy pilsner malt. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium-to-light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Clean, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)
An outstanding pilsner. Would have again for sure. (Overall - 4.00)
