i liked this one a lot, and while yeah its just an amber, its a nice beer, not too sweet but with some nice grain layers, a total pint beer, something any beer drinker will love i would think, really well refined, not overly simple, but true to style and hearty and satisfying to drink on. a pretty deep copper to even chestnut color here, a high inch and a half of light tan head, super airy from the tap and with great retention, a really nice looking beer, close to clear. parts of this hit english, parts german, and parts decidedly american, id say this has a little more grain nuance than a lot of its peers, its rich but also on the drier side for the style, and its also pretty robustly hopped as these go, no complaints there! not quite rye malt spicy but maybe a little spicy hop note happening, some caramel, hard pretzel, and baked warmth along with earthy minerality. a hint of juniper and orange from the hops and some accompanying bitterness thats not out of place, even a subtle yeast note adding intrigue as it warms. smooth and bright, bubbly and even sort of creamy feeling for a flash, some mid palate sugars, more toast and nut character later, and peppy hops to close. nice flow, nice balance, this is timeless and interesting at the same time, elevated amber.

16oz can served in a snulip. Can is not dated, as far as I can see. Received from @roguer in NBS BIF #17.
Pours a clear dark amber with a medium-sized head. Not a lot of carbonation. Head settles into a tall (but thin) ring and a lumpy, uneven skin. Smell is nutty, biscuits, slight yeast, more nuttiness.
Taste is first, a surprising hoppy bitterness, mostly grapefruit and orange rind in character; second, a honeysuckle sweetness, and third (though almost tied for second) a roasted nuttiness.
Mouthfeel is light, clean, dry. Overall, very nice -- surprisingly bitter for the style, probably wouldn't be popular with people who were looking for the standard amber ale.

Received from @Roguer in an LIF associated with NBW BIF #17.
Poured more brown than amber, but hey, I don’t drink many of these so perhaps that’s correct now.
Aroma lost on my Covid affected nose.
The taste is interesting, I was expecting smooth, bready malts (and there were some) but it was this sharpness of flavor, almost a fruity bitter taste, that led the way. The malt comes in later.
The feel I may have upped the score a little because I was really ready for a beer and it quaffed too easily. Light and crisp almost.
OA, not a style I seek out often but always good to try new things.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Sampled on September 16, 2018.
The appearance is a darker acorn amber color with a lingering tan colored head up top.
The aroma is full of sweet caramel and toffee malts. Maybe the most basic hint of fruit but generally a lower hop profile.
Medium body.
Sweet upfront taste but the bitterness comes in from behind and lingers on the palate.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a pint glass. Good off white head that holds and provides some lacing. Amber colored body. Slightly sweet, malty aroma; the malts used in this beer are many - Pale, Caramel, Brown & Blackprinz. The first sip reveals the complexity of the malt mix, followed by mild hops bitterness for a clean finish. Hops used are Magnum, East Kent Goldings and Cascade, combined for 30 IBUs, a nice range for an Amber Ale. I wish more brewers to the time and effort to produce an Amber Ale like this one!

A: crystal clear; reddish amber in color; 1 finger light khaki head that receded to a wispy cap; little lacing;
S: more complex than a lot of reds; caramel, earthy, a bit of citrus rind, spice, and floral;
T: not as interesting as the aroma; sweet malt and caramel; a touch of floral on the finish; virtually no bitterness;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: easy drinking; wish the flavor had lived up to the aroma;
