somewhat of a flagship beer from these guys, and it presents a little older school with some color and some malt, higher bitterness, im not catching it at peak freshness, but its still really solid. light amber in color, past copper, not quite clear either, an above average just off white head but not appearing as incredibly well refined or anything. the nose is nice though, coo balance with fuller richer grain character, toasty and just a bit sweet, honey and almond, but the hops shine too, pine and citrus pith, fresh cut spruce, sage, navel orange, danky weed, a subtle yeast note too teasing almost english personality, quite a bit happening here but also cohesive, quite appealing, classic in a sense. the flavor is similar, high hop intensity most of the way, but no burn and not over the top bitterness, just a ton of flavor, pine and northwestern woodsy notes lead, but there are layers to this, a grassy freshness in the middle even though there is also a touch of oxidation later, milled pine lumber, indica nuggets, and green papaya are also here, the grain is warmer, but less sweet than it smells, plenty of balance and enhancing rather than distracting from the hops, really nicely proportioned there, late bitterness is perfect for this, and again a little fermentation character is welcome. its nice ipa, solid without being a mindbender or anything, one of their better hoppy beers ive had frankly, and i can only imagine it at maximum freshness. they have a winner with this one, fuller medium bodied but still real drinkable. nice four season brew, not quite into that red ipa range, but leaning malty.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance - The brew pours a lightly hazed yellow amber color with a small head of foam. The head fades fairly quickly, leaving a bit of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is strong of a grapefruit and orange smell mixed with some pine and herb. Other smells of lemon and grain are there as well rounding out the aroma.
Taste - The taste is heaviest of a cracker and bready malt mixed with lots of grapefruit and a bit of lemon. Some other tastes of pine and a light herb add a background taste, remaining rather constant throughout. The grapefruit fades a tad all while a touch of hay joins in, leaving one with a moderately hopped and malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body is medium to thicker with a lighter carbonation. Overall, a bit of a lighter body would have been better, but OK overall.
Overall - Decent, but fairly standard overall.

A: Served in glass from tap. less foam than expected with larger bubbles (~1/4 in). Head retention was minimal and gone within 3 minutes. Sparse uniform lacing around the glass. Deep amber and less clear than I thought.
S: definitely a Citra with slight lemon smell. Earthy pine blended with orange.
T: Citra was present. Hop had a piney taste as well that mirror the smell. El dorado came in at the end with slight Carmel malt blended with the alcohol.
M: Mouth feel was medium, less crisp that anticipated. Minimal carbonation in my mind. Flattened quick. Not too sugary or sweet but flavorful finish in the mouth. Got hoppier and the balance was worse toward the end though as it warmed. Don't linger on drinking it too much...
O: I prefer their Juicy Bulls#!+ drink a lot more!!! This was still a good option but nothing stood out and the balance was not the best in my mind.

16oz can served in a snulip. Can is not dated as far as I can tell. @Roguer sent it to me in a LIF associated with NBS BIF #17.
Pours a somewhat hazy burnt orange with a bit more than a finger of head that settles into a mostly even skin with a few clumps. Smell is WCIPA all the way, grapefruit rind and pine sap, maybe a hint of lemon zest.
Taste is right along the same lines, nice and bitter with a bit of a honeysuckle sweetness, with a nice hefty bitter finish. There's some sweetness, too, that leans a bit toward honeysuckle or orange blossoms.
Mouthfeel is substantial but not heavy. Overall, very nice IPA that is hitting my mood just right today.
