Smoaktoberfest is a smoked version of our fall classic, Oaktoberfest. Using beechwood-smoked barley malt, this lager is cloaked in a pleasant balance of smoke, malt and hops. Noble hops offer a balancing bitterness enveloped in the flavor and aroma of beechwood smoked. After fermentation with Bavarian lager yeast, the beer undergoes an extended lagering period to round out its character and mellow into a clean, smoky finish. O’zapft Is!

Draft at the brewery
Foamy 1 finger head with moderate retention, fair lacing, clear light golden pale color
Nose brings fair smoke, a smooth smoke from the beechwood, a hint of campfire but more smoked cheese, light sweet malt,
Taste again with the fair smoke, beechwood like smoked cheese again, a little smouldering camp fire, some sweet malt base with a mild toasty character, light herbal hop bitterness, soft layered malt character still coming through but barely through the smoke, dry finish with a bit of brine smoke and spicy hops
Mouth is med bod, soft lager, med to a bit higher carb
Overall pretty nice, good base ofest with light smoke that still dominates

12oz can at share. Light amber pour yields a foamy white head. Aroma is grainy and bready, sweet, with a good portion of smoke. Taste brings the smoke up front, on top of a rich, bready, sweet grainy base. Full mouthfeel. Really nice!

This might just be the best smoked beer I've had. smoky aroma, almost like a whiskey barrel
Flavor is also smokey but not overwhelming. The underlying oktoberfestyle shines through and it is crazy good perfect balance of malt with a little bit of hops and of course the smoke. Super smooth and crisp. Some caramel and toastyness --- and there's more whiskey.
This is insanely good. Strongly recommended. Worth the drive to Del Valle.

3 cans from an old friend in Texas.
Clear amber color, very thin head.
Nice oak smoke aroma with hints of caramel.
Smoke taste is nicely balanced, not as strong as the nose suggests.
Medium body with good carbonation.
Nice one!

Pour is an amber / burnt orange. Crystal clear with a nice chap of off white head. good retention.
Nose is toffee / caramel malts nicely mixed with a subtle, but definitely present smoked malt character
Taste is smokey malt upfront followed by caramel / toffee malt character, doughy, and a hint of nut. great beer.
Excellent. The smoke is blended nicely with the underlying style. You can detect each and nothing dominates.

Pours a warm tan gold with nice foaming. The aroma is all campfire and single malt, light and smokey. The sip follows, with a touch of caramel behind the smoke. I liked this tremendously.

Smoked malt is subtly incorporated and lends no harshness. Munich malt imparts an ideal level of sweetness. Brilliantly balanced.
One of the most drinkable smoked lagers out there. I don't pick up any Hallertau hops, but the one-two punch of Munich malt and smoked malt is effective and elevates this above most Marzenbiere.

Live Oak Smoaktoberfest
Look:
Pale copper/amber color with bright white head and nearly brilliant clarity. Poor head retention with a very small bubble texture.
Aroma:
A nice melding of Munich malt breadlines and slight caramel with beechwood smoke. Low level of noble hop aroma. Clean yeast character.
Taste:
Beechwood up front with some subtle bread crust notes following behind. Low level of noble hop flavors and bitterness hit you last but provide a nice balance to the beer.
Feel:
Medium bodied with some residual sweetness but not sweet by any means. Medium-low level of carbonation.
Overall:
It’s a smoked festbier. Well made but nothing mind-blowing
