Early Texas German immigrants had never seen an armadillo before, they called them 'panzerschwein' aka 'armored pig.'
This pils is a collaboration with our German hop growers featuring new climate-adapted noble hops,
Aurum and Diamant. Prost to our adaptable armored friend, with Panzerschwein Pils!

12oz can packaged on 04.14.22
poured into dimpled mug.
Appearance: translucent pale straw yellow body with massive bone white foam. Thick lacing sticking everywhere possible. Head has good staying power.
Smell: Light bready and biscuit malt profile. Light floral hops, but the malt is the star as far as the smells go.
Taste: Malt forward as the nose suggests. Biscuit all the way through the middle. Finish has a floral and green hop bite that is enough for me to say this is just pushing the boundaries of striking the right balance. Oh if the hops were in the backseat and the malt could shine the whole time, this would be insanely great lager.
Mouthfeel: Light body. Low end of moderate carbonation. Nice creaminess to this beer. Little heaviness from the malt and then the hops lighten it back up, but then hops seem to weigh down the beer near in the finish. Still very drinkable with all that said.
Overall: Crazy name for Live Oak beer, but I dig this Pilsner.

"Panzerschwein Pils - HVG collab w/ Aurum and Diamant hops, both global warming resistant German hops." -Live Oak's website.
Unlabelled 12 fl oz pull-tab can. 5% ABV. Packaged 04/14/22.
A competent crisp pilsner even if its hop profile is a bit loud compared to traditional German expressions of the style.
