Appearance: dark amber bodied beer with off white colored head that reminds you of a rootbeer float. Dense and chunky off white / light tan colored head. It has good staying power.
Smell: dark bready aroma. Light moderate sweetness. cocoa and dark fruits.
Taste: light bitterness and moderate fruity astringency leading the way. Hints of smoke and bakers cocoa in the background and finish.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied lager with moderate carbonation levels. Still very drinkable beer. Creamy texture that is worth noting, but slightly watery compared to most dark lagers.
Overall: This is a good dark lager. It's missing a little balance, but still well done beer to drink. Again enjoying the opportunity to try this Live Oak offering.
