Notes: Aged in bourbon barrels, this big imperial coffee stout was made with natural Ethiopian coffee. Bourbon flavors take the lead, followed by red fruit notes that go together with the rich malty and sweet chocolate characters in the beer.

375 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 6/8/20.

Pours an opaque dark brown, with a one and a half inch foamy head with very good retention, and some foamy lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, malt, some oak and char, light bourbon, light caramel and vanilla. The flavor starts with a bigger bourbon presence, then coffee, chocolate- more as it warms, malt, oak, some vanilla, light caramel, light char. Smooth, a very good full body, well carbonated.

A solid effort. The coffee is delicious and prominent, the chocolate comes in a close second. Very good barrels in the flavor, harder to find in the aroma. Very enjoyable.

375ml bottle with black cap.

poured into hybrid tulip/snifter glass.

Appearance: black as midnight. Thick cap of khaki colored head. Its got heavy booze legs. It stains the glass. Its a legit and formidable looking stout.

Smell: Rich bourbon, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and a hint of earthy / ashen coffee. Rich a sweet nose for sure.

Taste: Bourbon, oak, vanilla, rich chocolate, & ashen/charred barrel notes. Smooth & earthy coffee. Huge tobacco, brown sugar & caramel. Flavors are balanced yet very rich. This is sweet without being cloying.

Mouthfeel: almost a full bodied stout. low and adequate carbonation. Pretty smooth with a little bit of heat/warmth but dodges the boozyness. This is a pretty thick stout as well. Drink well below its ABV.

Overall: This is really close to Bourbon County Coffee vintages 2010-2014. Noon Whistle really exceeded expectations here and that's an understatement. This is a bourbon barrel stout first with a light and smooth coffee compliment. Extremely well balanced. Home run by Noon Whistle. This stout ticks all the boxes for an excellent barrel aged coffee beer.
