Clear dark amber with plenty of foam. Sudsy mouthfeel. Fairly substantial malty body and definitely on the malty side. Interesting fruity aroma, like old berries and a whiff of pine.
Flavor is quite resiny and even a little astringent. It's what I call the "leaf mold" taste. The bitterness sneaks up and it quite overpowering after some sipping. Definitely not one to try again. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Platypus in Bend.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: rich orange hue with a fairly murky haze and a thin layer of frothy ivory foam. The head isn't much, but the color is great.
Smell: very sweet with a little bit of a green, grassy wet-hop aroma.
Taste: toasty, caramelly malt with a whole lot of sweetness, atop the same grassy hops from the aroma. It's just not as well balanced as I normally like; too much malt vs. the hops.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and OK creaminess.
Overall: this beer just isn't my jam. This bottle doesn't have any dates on it, but I bought it at the brewery so I wouldn't think it's been sitting around for ages, but it does taste a little bit like an old IPA. It's not as impressive as other Sam Bond beers.
