This actually is not an easy style for a young brewer to do this well.
While Fleetwood Black really doesn't stand out for Looks (although the car did in a bad way), it Smells of darkly roasted malts. And this carries into the Taste where much of the bitterness comes from the nearly-burnt malts. The after-taste sits well in the mouth... much like a good porter would.
I keep intending to visit Motor Row's taproom because they have a good story. This is another father-son brewing team... of which I seem to be encountering more. (That has a nice feeling; similar to monastic brothers passing on their secrets to one another.) I also like how they partnered with a man owning the building in Chicago's Motor Row and how they have been an important part of the regeneration around the Convention Center.... particularly since it is five decades late in coming.

Incredible malt character. Some caramel and chocolate notes. Nice roasted malt. Some dryness as expected in the finish. Hops perfectly balance the malt with a touch of bitterness. While this beer is likely to fly under the radar, fans of this style are in for a real treat. Another winner from Motor Row. Seek it out.
