Hard to rate this beer, and maybe I shouldn't, simply b/c cannot judge beer on its own; I say this b/c it is served w/ a brown sugar "laced" rimmed glass so no matter what you smell and taste brown sugar. Poured a brown body, minimal head, the brown sugar aspect dominates but there is a heartiness to beer so it's not watery/thin/slick. I did enjoy my serving, I cannot deny it, so if you don't mind sweet beers then this is worth it (how it would taste w/o brown sugar is a mystery to me but my guess is bland).

On draft at the brewery: pours a clear sweet potato color, orange-brown combination with off-white head. Sweetness, caramel, sweet potato, and some cereal on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with sweetness and some grain.

Yummy goodness fit for a cold rainy tropical depression # 9. This is an awesome beer, err ale. Do yourself a favor and get one or two. You'll love it, guaranteed.

Served with sugar crystals on glass rim. This smells and tastes just like thanksgiving sweet potato. For being at 9% it's well disguised under its semi sweetness. Brewmaster has hit the target on this unusual offering. One of the most unusual beers I've ever tried.

Had this one at the brewery as part of a tasting paddle.
A dark orange orange body with a thin amount of head along the top; returns with a swirl of the glass.
Tons of spice on the nose; cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg.
Taste has plenty of that spice and a little marshmallow to it too! Like drinking a sweet potato pie!
Nice full mouth feel, not a hint of alcohol.
Overall, a really good Imperial Sweet Potato Ale full of spices and a nice soft finish. Smells and tastes just like a perfect beer to pair with Thanksgiving dinner or even for dessert. Try this one while you can.
