really cool beer here, my favorite i had from them when i popped in yesterday. they call it an ipa, and it is hoppy, but its also so much more than that, fermented with sake yeast if the name didnt already give that away, it takes on a sort of saison character from it, estery and interesting, floral and fresh with a little earthy spiciness, definitely a lot more complex than most ipa types are, and i think the nuances of the yeast are awesome with these lemondrop hops, delicate and fruity, subtle jasmine and plum notes, a definite asian flare from the yeast, i think more brewers should put it to work in their hoppy beer, it just works so well in this context, as rare as it seems to be. crazy freshness to this, tons of subtlety too, grass and white wine and rain in the springtime. i like the hops here too, a little bit bitter and fresh and herbal without being overly dry hoppy or new school, which i really appreciate, it keeps the beer soft and light. great carbonation and finishing dryness, it really is refreshing and very drinkable. an awesome recipe and great execution too, way ahead of my modest expectations, the beers in here were great, and this was the best of the ones i had! id buy this regularly if they canned it...
