What started as a collab with our friends at Timnath Beerwerks, a portion of this rye imperial stout found a nice home inside a special rye barrel from West Bottoms Whiskey Co of Kansas City (typo on label), for a nice slumber of 24 months.
The result is a sophisticated blend of our NOCO and KC roots with all local malts including rye, and soaking up that extra fruity spice from the barrel and balanced by dark chocolate sweetness.

Pours a clear, dark brown color; opaque, dark mahogany in the glass; fizzy ring of foam lines the inside of the glass. Very faint aroma of dark malts; light presence of barrel wood. Low-key dark malt taste; milk chocolate; elements of rye whiskey and earthy herbs. Medium-heavy body; slick and silky; excellent whiskey warmth.
While the looks and smell don't overly impress, the taste is very nice, balanced and deftly complex. The mouthfeel seems a tad weak for the style but does exude a fine, slippery quality on the palate.
ABV: 13%; pouring temperature: 47 °F; canning info: 8 oz
