The first offering from Clifford Brewing is the award-winning Clifford Porter. A dark and complex robust porter, with flavours of chocolate and coffee, combined with rich roasted malts. A balanced bitterness with the subtle earthiness of Fuggle hops in the aroma. A signature beer of brewer, Brad Clifford—this porter has won multiple awards.

From a 473ml can packaged on 01 28 26. Pored into a pint glass. A two finger fine tan head on an opaque very dark brown. The head diminished to a thin layer. Sheets of fine lacing.
Roasted malts and coffee in the nose. The taste follows the nose. Toast and coffee. a dry finish.
A smooth and creamy texture. Medium body and carbonation. Overall a solid American Porter. True to the style and worth a try.

Awesome beer. way better than Guinness...most other dark beers are actually. taste is good and goes down easy. i could drink a few at a time and not get sick of them. good job. probably buy more another day... ( and have been and will continue to). Nice find at LCBO...pick it up if you like this style of beer, wont be disappointed.
i would have a couple Clifford Porter one day, and a couple WoodHouse Stout the next day and be torn on what i like more. Well today i had one after another.
My conclusion is that Clifford Porter is a little better. At least for me it is. Both are great...and now im a Clifford Porter fan.
Hope to to try other Clifford beers someday.
im still a noob and think stouts and porters are kind of the same.
Can buy Clifford beers online if your in Ontario. Just do it. Thank me later.

I am going to finish my night with a porter. Never heard of this brewery. I am hoping for a solid porter with great flavors. The temperature is 44 degrees; served in a pint glass. A frothy and creamy light tan head adorns the top. Slow dissipation left some lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 30 are dark brown with reddish hues. Zero clarity exists. The appearance of the beer is average for this style. 4.25
Robust coffee and chocolate notes dominate. Nosing the glass, I detect light molasses, herbal, earthiness, a hint of leather, and a touch of a campfire. The aromas are typical for this style; nothing stands out.
The campfire smoke is more prevalent in the taste. Sipping the beer further, I noticed chocolate, mild roasted malts, light espresso, earthiness, and a touch of leather. The slight acrid notes are why I deducted some from the score.
A dry mouthfeel with a slight resin finish. A medium-light body and has medium carbonation.
I am digging this porter. This is a beer I would go to a brewpub and order until I was done conversing or eating. A well-made porter with no frill. I wish I had several more cans or wish I could get them. I am so glad I got to experience this; thank you, Peter.

Dark brown body with a hint of ruby, clear, capped by a dense milk chocolate with great retention of several minutes.
Aromas of dark chocolate, lightly smoky, relatively mild.
Roasted malt flavours of burnt coffee, dark bitter chocolate, leading to a dry finish featuring moderate hop bitterness. Chocolate lingers on the palate. Medium carbonation and body, with a softly grainy & creamy feel like hot chocolate.
Straightforward flavour, with a nice bitterness balancing things out. Not going to wow you, but a solid everyday choice.

Look: Pours dark brown with beige/tan one finger head. Foam dissipates slowly leaving a nice ring around the edges after 5 minutes.
Smell: Roasted nuts and dark chocolate
Taste: Dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, a little bitterness, sweet caramel, plenty of roasted malt.
Feel: Creamy and full bodied . Plays mostly on the front of the mouth. It does leave some bitterness on the back end.
This beer is my favourite Ontario brewed porter. I look always look forward to having one. This beer earns an A.

Got in a BIF from Coronaeus. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 2/6/2019. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy dark ruby red/brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of toffee, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, mint, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of toffee, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, mint, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charcoal bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, smoke, charcoal, wood, mint, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/char bitter/sweet balance; and no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/resinous/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is an awesome American porter. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish. Not aggressively bitter/charred. Outstandingly clean/rich malt complexity, perfectly balanced earthy Fuggle hops, and mild fruity yeast notes. Mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and perfect example of the American style. Highly impressive.
