Pours a slight hazy pale yellow colour with a white head that quickly disappears. There is a smell of bread crust, citrus and floral, grassy hops. First sip is grainy malty with some floral hop bitterness and a touch of citrus and grapefruit pith. Medium body, good carbonation and finish with a dry lingering bitterness

Tallboy from the LCBO; dated May 22 2019 and served slightly chilled.
Pours pale golden with just a bit of haze, producing half a finger of loose, frothy white head that is not long for this world. Sixty seconds later, only a bubbly collar surrounding a few islets remains; alright, I suppose there're a few flecks of lace, too. The aroma is muted at best - I'm getting a few hints of lemon and grapefruit, as well as some grassy, floral hop notes and cereal grains. It doesn't open up much as the glass warms either.
Not bad - it tastes of grainy, crackery malts paired with a robust, American-style hop bill that imparts flavours of grapefruit, melon and just a touch of passion fruit. The back end is more pithy, with a lightly floral bitterness also coming through, while the aftertaste has a hint of citrus pithiness that doesn't linger for long. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation that prickles the palate continuously throughout the sip, and excellent drinkability once it calms down a bit. I wouldn't have minded seconds.
Final Grade: 3.7, a respectable B grade. Devil's Punchbowl India Session Lager is a good beer that isn't likely to excite most BAs all that much. I'm not discerning any flaws here - I can't say it's not well made, but its hop profile is honestly not very interesting to me, to the point where I'd really rather be drinking either a real IPA or a regular pale lager. As far as ISLs go, this is still probably one of the top five Ontario-made examples I've tried, and definitely worth a try if you enjoy this type of beer. I might pick it up again at some point down the road.

473 ml can served cold into a ST. Pauli Girl mug. LCBO purchase for around $3.20 CDN. Review from notes. A nice play on a local phenomenon for naming a beer.
Appearance - Hazy, light straw colored brew. A finger or so of brilliant white head sits on top but fizzles away to nothing in a couple of minutes.
Smell - Some light lemon and leafy hops notes with a solid grain course in behind. A touch of crackeriness. Aromas not super intense.
Taste - Pretty much like the nose, with leafy and lemony hops coming to the forefront and crackery grain in behind. Pretty tasty and pretty drinkable.
Mouthfeel - Light-Medium bodied, expressive carbonation, a touch of astringency on the palate to close.
Overall - A pretty solid lager from these guys out of Steeltown. Worth a try and enhances the scope of their growing portfolio.
