Appearance: Poured with a thumb of head that produced some minor lace but didn't retain sadly long. The body is somewhat cloudy caramel orange, but not cloud as to not be opaque, and show it's solid carbonation.
Smell: Barley malt is dominant with some nice caramel notes and a hint of earth. Warming didn't help it out very much, but the potency is there.
Taste: A mixture of caramel and bready malt, like it was roasted just on the on the line in some fashion that gives way to floral and earth hops. Solid stuff, but a bit simpler then I'd like it to be.
Mouthfeel: The carbonation is well done as is the transitioning although given it doesn't travel long, that's not much of a compliment. There is a bit of a dry note that I don't particularly care for in this offering. The mixed malt aftertaste is nice though.
Drinkability: Lighter end of medium body and certainly refreshing like a lager should be, and easy to get down. I wouldn't call it crisp, nor rich...but somewhere in between.
Final Thoughts: I've had Vienna Lager's with a much more powerful flavor profile, but I don't think that is what this beer was going for. I think they wanted to brew a more basic lager but wanted it to be a bit more richer and interesting and in that, this was a success. This is something you'd give your macro buddies to try to sell them on craft beer.
