Review from notes. On tap at Beertown Burlington. Sampled on January 5, 2023. I think this is the right beer, it was a 10.5% ABV Imperial porter from Clifford. I'm guessing this was the one as it was BBA.
Appearance - Night black ominous, but with a small tan head.
Smell - Muted nose. Some bourbon, hints of chocolate and more roasty malts, but nothing terribly distinguishable.
Taste - Some bourbon for sure, roasted malts, a little hint of chocolate. Flavors blended together nicely.
Mouthfeel - Full bodied and boozy, but not overly so. Finish is semi-dry and carbonation is lower but texture doesn't have the velvety feel of some of the best imperial porters/stouts.
Overall - A fine offering from Clifford, again good to see them expanding. The aromas and flavors were kind of muted in my glass, but nonetheless a beer that was solid and could be great with a few little tweaks. Worth a try if you can find it.
