On tap. Haven’t had much experience or luck with beers in this style, but I’m stoked anyways.
L: pours a transparent light amber gold in color. The clarity is throwing me off. About a finger of a densely packed off-White head that didn’t last long. The lacing is awesome, leaving ample sudsy remains on the glass.
S: so f*cking strange. The smell does not match the appearance by any means. Tons of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and caramel. I expect it to smell like a lager, and it smells like anything but. I’m being mind f*cked right now.
T: mind f*cked again. Tons of smoke character with healthy amounts of roasted Malts and bitter chocolate. Finish is almost sweet with a Smokey chocolate aftertaste. It’s strange but it works. I’m a fan.
F: light in body, medium to light in weight. Smooth, silky and easy to drink. Not chewy or motor oil status, but really nice feel for 5.8 AbV.
O: my favorite golden stout to-date. I can’t wrap my mind around it. I’m enjoying it. At such a low AbV, what’s not to like. I am very glad to try. Cheers!

this was one of the more interesting beers we had here at fieldwork, something quite different, a clear honey colored brew, but built like a stout in other ways, lots of body, and plenty of coffee in here too, pretty awesome. remarkable to get the dark depth of the stout in such a pale beer, feel and all is spot on, and i think the roast and complexion of the coffee has a lot to do with it. there also appears to be some lactose in here, i found this to be pretty sweet and with a body like a milk stout more than a classic oatmeal stout or something, so that likely contributes too. hints of sweet chocolate through it too in both the aroma and the flavor, and enough bitterness in the end for it to remain fairly balanced. pretty impressive stuff overall, not sure i need more than a glass or two, but this is way better than a novelty item too, its really well done and unlike even other blonde stout types with how forward the coffee is here. i really dug this, and in fact i really dug pretty much all of the beer at fieldwork, well worth a visit if you are in the area!

Nitro draught pour at Davis Beer Shoppe into a nonic pint. Pours a golden yellow with a finger of high density cream white head. Nose is very potent vanilla, almost no chocolate and just hints of coffee. Taste is a bit sweet, very little coffee bitterness, did remind me of white chocolate. Finish is nice and clean. Body is really smooth and creamy andcarbonation good. This place continues to impress me on damn near every beer I try from them!

I purchased this beer on tap at mission creek brewery off the Almaden right next door to whole foods on April 7, 2016. My review may be far and beyond from the mega critics that typically write on this site but please take a seat and indulge in my experience with this beer.

L: This beer has an incredible golden color, which coming from a stout, isn't typical. The pour was hard, right into the glass (Nitro) which proceeded to build a strong and delicious head. The beer looked like a Pale Ale but the head sat like a stout.
S: Personally, I didn't care too much for the smell. When I pick up a stout, I expect a decently hardy beverage that I'm about to throw back... My second breakfast essentially. This beer has a very faint hint of coffee and not much else.
T: This beer had a remarkable taste! When I closed my eyes and took a sip of it, I could imagine I was drinking a mocha at a cafe in downtown San Jose, but instead of hyper energetic after effect, I got a slight buzz and a yearning for another glass. I would say this is easily the smoothest stout I have yet to drink granted I'm new to this category of beers. I've had few stouts in my days but this is for sure at the top of the list for taste.
F: The White Mocha had the look of a PA but the consistency of a stout. It was creamy, flavorful, hardy. This is for sure a new spin on a stout, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Good work Fieldwork Brewing Co.

Call this a gimmicky beer (or whatnot) but this this is damn delicious! A cascade of nitrogen enriched head forms quickly and stays thick throughout the entire time. Aroma is a nice bite of roasted coffee...and mocha. Pretty much smells like a real white mocha. Amazed to see this has a low overall review, because the body is smooth and creamy, nice and complex. A fun beer to try, and quite delicious.
