This was possibly the first beer I ever had at Fieldwork. Was part of a flight back in May 2016. First beer of the flight. Also first review of this beer on BA, albeit four years later. Too much social media posing I guess. Thoughts & Prayers.
Anyways, pours yellow, lightly cloudy, thinner 1/4" white head. The aroma is indeed hoppy meets berliner weisse's dry sour mash hay wheat notes. Funny how Simcoe is a bittering hop, but in a minimal hoppy style, it stands out aroma wise. I can dig it.
Taste somehow I enjoyed. On paper, Simcoe + berliner weisse kinda made my skin crawl, but my morbid curiosity got me ordering this, but I was pleasantly surprised it kept the best qualities of both styles and melded them pretty good. Sure, I would want a top tier of either style before this cuvee, but sometimes its neat just to experiment and try, especially when its drinkable, and dare I say "good". Still smacks, still light, but even more flavor than a normal berliner or sour ipa along expected lines.
