this was either going to be amazing or not so much, and unfortunately its not great. it was one of the beers i had the highest hopes for on their menu, but it just didnt turn out. there is no doubt this is cucumber forward, but there is nothing delicate or subtle about the beer itself, and in the end perhaps such an unrefined farmhouse was not an ideal base for these flavors, as good as it sounds on paper. it is hazy and thick, really turbid with sediment under an inch of white head. aroma of peeling fresh cucumbers, it is authentic but also kind of off putting with all the saison yeast that is there in the smell too. the salt does little here, its hard to even pick up on, unless of course it just serves to accentuate the cucumber, which is almost too heavy here. no dryness or salty bite here at all. too much body, not enough bubbles, maybe way too much vegetable, it doesnt seem like this is as well dialed in as the rest of their lineup, but i definitely appreciate the effort and an very impressed with how forward the cucumber is throughout this beer. a reworking of the recipe and this could be pretty cool, but it was a tough glass to finish in its current state...
