After a long weekend in Baja California, and many hours in traffic trying to cross the border home, with the smell of low grade petrol and nothing to declare other than a car full of hangovers, you are always greeted by one of the greatest aromas on earth, the mobile churro cart. Churro Cream Ale is our nod to this perfect fried confection, taking an international twist on the classic American beer style by incorporating cinnamon, and then slowly baking cane sugar until it is a deep golden brown and ready to add to the boil. A toasty grain bill provides the perfect character to mimic the donut-like pastry dough and provide hints of sweetness to tie together all of the flavors. While you can't enjoy Churro Cream Ale while killing time in traffic, it is the perfect last course beer and pairs impeccably with the Vicente Fernández Spotify station.

this tasted more like a churro this time than the last time i had it. deeper brassy in color for a cream ale, maybe taking on some color from the cinnamon. the beer is good, but you have to like and be wanting this sort of thing to really take it all in properly. i smell a ton of cinnamon, a light vanilla cream element, and the sugar, which smells and tastes cooked to me, bruleed or something, really quite enticing aromatically! the flavor is cool because the churro elements are all there very warming and robust, fresh baked, with the cinnamon in the drivers seat. there are two rad things here though, one is that its still a beer, i get a cool conditioned malty cream ale underneath all this, its not flavored at the expense of it still tasting like beer. the second is that this is restrained on the finishing sugar. i mean, a churro, for gods sake, is covered in sugar, and this is held back enough for a whole glass to be consumable, a wise choice for my palate. more sweetness would really turn me off from this. its neat to see a dessert beer taken up in a style that isnt black and boozy, so well done on the innovation side, and it drinks beery and unique, so nicely executed as well. worth trying if this sounds even remotely appealing. my lady and i liked it a lot!

This is a great dessert beer. Had it at Paragon pre game for my final beverage before heading into the park to see if the Giants can force a 5th game against the Cubs in the NLDS.
Fieldwork is constantly surprising me with their recipes. This is a great dessert.
